Update on Life! Time to re-evaluate?

by Andrea on August 2, 2010

Hello all,

I’m just writing today to update you on life in general. I’ve been a little quiet over the last few weeks and am likely to be quiet for a few weeks to come.

Nothing to worry about but I am due to have a little op (tomorrow actually!)  so am in the throws of frantically getting my life in order – if that is ever possible! Why is it that us working mums feel the need to have every little part of their life in order before a major event. I feel like I am nesting in the same way I did before my son was born!

I have a 5 year old who has just broken up for the school holidays that needs entertaining, lots of work to finish off in my day job as well as making sure that I have as much as possible of my stay at home business automated.

Actually, I’m finding it quite therapeutic to throw lots of rubbish out, clear out the wardrobe and get the house in order. My life never seems to stand still and actually sometimes I think we need a bit of a wake up call to make us take a step back. I think I’ve been taking on far too much for the last few months anyway…

So, as usual, I try to see the positive in everything. I’m using this period of downtime to focus on what I really want in life, to re-evaluate all of the activities that I’ve been carrying out in my business and re-focus. It’s almost like starting afresh and is very liberating.

I think we could all do that periodically anyway. It is amazing how an enforced re-think can make you realise that you are hanging on to work that is just blocking you, taking up far too much time for too few results or that just isn’t fulfilling.  What’s more, when I am truly honest with myself, I think I knew what I needed to do anyway!

So, other than an enforced rest, I will be taking a break from tweeting and facebook and will be concentrating purely on writing content for my niche websites for a while. That way I get to fit work in around when I am feeling up to it. The good thing about niche websites is that they build their own traffic and are an automated business model in themselves. So for now, social networking will be taking a back seat whilst I recuperate – hopefully in the sunshine!!

While the sun is still shining you might also want to take a few moments to look at the balance of your life and your business activities to see whether you could do with a bit of a rethink in any areas of your business. If you are anything like me, deep down you probably know what you need to give up anyway!

See you all in a few weeks!

Andrea
